FreedomPop cell service trial.

OK.  So, I ordered a sim card from http://www.freedompop.com/ to test out, and it just arrived today.
The first thing I figured out is they do not support Windows phone devices of any kind.  I should have searched their forums first, I would have been able to figure that out quickly.  Yes, I have a windows phone in my arsenal.

Next:  I popped it into my Samsung Galaxy tab to test.  Works for calls right off the bat, but not for MMS texting.  You have to download their app on either Android or IOS.
The app was not working at first, I had to shut off my wifi to get it to work.  The issues I am having now is that if you are in an area with bad data reception, you will have trouble getting set up and making your first calls/texts.  The setup process needs to be done with mobile data on and wifi off.

On the up side, they use data for calls.  This is a plus because many people get poor cell reception in their homes and thus can't receive calls.  If you have wifi at home, simply turn off mobile data service on your cell phone and your calls/texts will go over your wifi. This will mitigate the problem of "dead spots" in your house.

I am still early on in my trial of this product.  However, the price is right.  If you are looking for a low cost alternative to your local cell provider, you can get a 1GB plan with unlimited calls and texts for $19.99 per month. Plus, you can earn credit toward free data by recommending people or trying sponsored services.   I'm not sure yet, but it appears that phone/text does not affect your data usage.  You may want to double check with pre-sales support if you call/text a lot.

And as always, check their coverage map before you order.

Please leave feedback with your experience if you have used this service.
Thanks,
Dan.
